Research

Our department was established in April 2019. Based in Kawasaki Medical School General Medical Center, we provide medical treatment and education with an emphasis on training medical personnel who can provide care for people with various symptoms of dementia. We are conducting clinical research related to dementia as described below.

  • Development of Dementia Rating Scale:
    We are developing clinical rating scale of various symptoms associated with dementia that can be used easily and accurately for evaluation in clinical practice. We are examining the usefulness of longitudinal evaluation of the ABC dementia scale that we recently developed.
  • Epidemiological study of dementia research:
    We are participating in the Japan Prospective Studies Collaboration for Aging and Dementia (JPSC-AD) study and aim to establish evidence for the need of dementia prevention in Japan by understanding the actual condition of dementia in residents by epidemiological research and clarifying the risk factors and protective factors.
  • Research on cognitive impairment in neurodegenerative disorders:
    We are investigating cognitive dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease and clarifying related risk factors or changes on neuroimaging.
