Education
We are aiming to make students and medical interns learn how to practice general internal medicine through the process from first visit to diagnosis and treatment. Many kinds of tools to diagnose are performed in our department. Not only blood tests, X rays, and respiratory function tests, but also bronchoscopy, electromyography, EEG, and endocrine stress tests will be undertaken.
We hope students learn the way how to diagnose and treat in general internal
medicine while medical interns acquire the techniques to diagnose and treat in our department.
Resarch
We are doing researching on the following themes in the respective areas;
- Respiratory diseases related reseach
Relationship between gut environment and respiratory diseases
Systemic effects of respiratory diseases
The relationship between mechanical property and maintenance of lung structure by respiratory movement, especially its analysis using collagen fiber orientation
The role of microbiome in respiratory diseases
Reducing the side effects with new medicines, especially the molecule targeted ones
Determinants of phenotype in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (Japan-US joint research)
Determinants of diversity in COPD-clinical courses
- Diabetes related research
Survey and research on severe hypoglycemia related to diabetes treatment
Study of the relationship between glycoalbumin-HbA1c ratio and pancreatic β cell function in patients with type 2 diabetes
Survey on prevalence of hepatocellular carcinoma in patients with diabetes
Study of renin-aldosterone system in patients with type 2 diabetes
Study on the characteristics of diabetes patients who have undergone limb amputation
Study on effects especially those other than hypoglycemic effect of anti-diabetic agent SGLT-2 inhibitor
- Neurological disease related research
