Department of General Internal Medicine 3

Staff

Department of ‘General Internal Medicine 3’ was established at Kawasaki Medical School in April 2018. Our staff is composed of medical expert in cardiology and nephrology. We have certificates entitled Fellow of the Japanese Circulation Society, Fellow of the Japanese Society of Nephrology, and/or Fellow of the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine. In the division of cardiovascular medicine, patients with acute myocardial infarction and heart failure are seen and emergent coronary angiography and coronary intervention are performed. Catheter ablation and pacemaker implantation are also performed if necessary. In the division of nephrology, medical diagnosis and treatment can be received from urine analysis and renal biopsy according to evidence-based medicine. Induction and maintenance of hemodialysis are also performed in patients with end-stage renal failure.

Our mission is to generate a substantial impact in the areas of clinical and translational cardiorenal research and to educate young clinical trainees as cardiologists or nephrologists up to leading fully-fledged general physicians.
