Staff

Thank you for visiting the website of Kawasaki Medical School Department of Ophthalmology 1. In recent years, our department has been blessed with many young doctors who are excellent and enthusiastic. The results in 2019 were 71.2 outpatients (per day, target 70), 16.7 inpatients (per day, target 15). The average number of new patients per month was 164.7 (target 130), of which 127.3 were hospitalized (target 95), and the average length of stay was 4.0 days (target 4.5 days). The target values exceeded remarkably in all categories. In 2019, a total of 1553 surgeries (1142 in the previous year), 1203 cataracts including simultaneous surgeries (863 in the previous year), 383 vitreous surgeries (266 in the previous year), 145 glaucoma surgeries (134 in the previous year), strabismus surgeries 50 (53 in the previous year) and 31 keratoplasty (4 in the previous year) were performed.

At present, our department is very well-equipped as a training facility, and we feel that it is the best training environment for young ophthalmologists. The number of residents who are hoping to take our training courses is increasing, and we would like to cherish this positive direction. All department members will continue to work while valuing a friendly atmosphere. Thank you very much for your continued support.
