Our department ‘General Internal Medicine 4’ was established at Kawasaki Medical School in April 2011. We are medical oncologists and our staff members have certificates entitled Japanese Fellows of Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, Respiratory Medicine, Respiratory Endoscopy, Hematology, Gastroenterology, Gastroenterological Endoscopy, or Palliative Medicine. Thus, we can manage most malignant conditions. Dr. Nagio Takigawa has been a Professor since 2011. He has studied respiratory medicine and medical oncology, especially lung cancer since 1988. He has received grants from Cancer Research Ministry of Health and Welfare, Grants-in-Aid of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and Kanae Foundation for Life & Socio-medical Science, and a scholarship from Japan-North America Medical Exchange Foundation etc. He has published over 260 original articles, case reports, and review papers in English in international peer-reviewed journals. Our work has generated a substantial impact on clinical and translational lung cancer research in the area of chemotherapy, chemoradiotherapy, molecular target therapy, and immunotherapy.
